Travel agents to slash their prices this winter

Hotels in Spain WINTER WONDER Brexit has caused travel agents to slash their prices this winter – with seven-night breaks INCLUDING flights from just £83pp Trip Compare

Brits are tightening their belts due to rising inflation and the falling value of the pound – so travel agents are offering unprecedented bargains to tempt holidaymakers

BRITAIN might be hunkering down for the winter, but that doesn’t mean you have to put up with the gloomy weather.

As temperatures plummet, so do prices for holiday deals to some of Europe’s most iconic tourist destinations – which is good news for Brits tightening their belts after last year’s Brexit vote.

A week in Malta will set travellers back less than £100 this winter, thanks to plummeting holiday prices across Europe

According to price comparison site Travel Supermarket, the cost of hotel and flight packages to destinations around the world have been slashed by as much as 56 per cent during the winter period, causing European destinations to do the same in an attempt to compete.

Areas of Morocco and the Maldives boasted some of the biggest price drops, with week-long deals available in Morocco for as little as £117 per person.

But it is the European sites that are offering the best packages this winter.

Travellers looking for better weather can pick themselves up a seven-night stay in Malta for just £84 per person, including flights and accommodation.

Offered by Holiday Pirates, the deal caters for four adults sharing one apartment in mid January, flying from London’s Luton airport to Luqa.

And with an average temperature of around 16C in the first month of the year, it’s the perfect destination to escape the winter chill with your mates.

If you are looking to take a shorter trip and aren’t too bothered by the cold, there are plenty of two-night deals in Prague and major Polish cities for bargain prices.

A two-night stay in Prague’s Old Town can cost just £56 per person including flights, based on two adults sharing a three-star hotel in mid January.

While Brits can also travel to Poland’s Krakow at the same time of the month for £89 each including flights, or spend a weekend in the neighbouring city of Gdansk and enjoy the dazzling Christmas Markets in December for just under £50 per person including flights.

Low temperatures at home don’t have to mean you rule out popular summer destinations like Spain or Portugal either.
LoveHolidays.com are offering incredible deals on a seven-night trip to Costa del Sol later this month for just £83 per person.
Flying out of Aberdeen airport, two adults can enjoy a week’s stay in coastal Spain and enjoy temperatures flirting around the 20C mark.

Portugal’s Algarve region is also boasting week-long holiday deals for £83 per person, with two adults sharing a three-star hotel and flying out of Liverpool.

Emma Coulthurst, travel expert for TravelSupermarket believes that the price discounts are in part down to Brexit.

She said: “Brits are tightening their belts post-Brexit and are reluctant to commit to a winter holiday unless the price is right. Plummeting demand means prices are spectacularly low – these price drops are unprecedented.

“A saturated airline market also means ever-reducing prices – with low cost airlines making up the flight component of many packages these days.”

She continued: “If you want to book a break, great times to go away are early December and any time in January– these times offer some of the best prices of the entire year as few people think to go away then so close to Christmas and New Year.”
“Many emerging city and beach destinations around the world are realising the economic benefits of tourism on GDP growth and are reaping the benefits of their increasing tourism marketing spend.

“This means that more established tourism hot spots are having to compete even harder for Brit custom, especially during the winter. There is so much choice now for where Brits choose to spend their holiday budget.”
